Nakuidake Prefectural Natural Park
Since ancient times, Mt. Nakuidake in the Nanbu region has been revered as sacred. Halfway up the mountain is the famous Hakkazan Hokoji Temple, the approach to which is lined with a row of trees known as `the Thousand Pines`. Joyoto, a three-storey pagoda which is registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property, is located within the temple grounds. Standing in the quiet for a little while will wash your troubles away. Meanwhile, the peony flowers in Hase Peony Garden put on a gorgeous display from May to June.
